The operational core of our network

The National Control Centers form the operational backbone that allows Rai Way to consistently and cohesively maintain the quality, reliability, and security of its services.

These Centers serve as the main hubs for nationwide interventions: they oversee network configurations remotely, monitor service statuses, and coordinate recovery efforts.

Located in Rome and Milan, these centers are consistently interconnected and have distinct responsibilities that serve the entire infrastructure:

Transmission Network Operations (T-NOC), Rome

It oversees the configuration, monitoring, and remote management of transmission networks, multiplex generation systems (Head End), radio links, and satellites for distribution and contribution services. It supervises the entire operational cycle and monitors the quality of services, ensuring operation and activation of corrective actions in the event of an alarm.

It acts as a central point for both national and international Contribution Services, managing interactions with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) in Geneva concerning Eurovision and overseeing the organisation of occasional broadcasts and special events.

Broadcasting Network Operations Center (B-NOC), Milan

It facilitates the remote management of Rai Way's key broadcasting facilities, handling the configuration and uninterrupted operation of services at main broadcasting sites, managing alarms, processing trouble tickets, and triggering field interventions when anomalies occur. It also coordinates communications with RAI, third-party customers and local broadcasters for the management of disruptions.

The digital advancement of the radio link network has enhanced remote management capabilities and increased the volume of available monitoring data, thereby boosting efficiency and operational responsiveness.
